The Four Modes of Capital Punishment
“The Four Modes of Capital Punishment in Early Modernity” was the project’s first internal workshop, which was held at the University of Hamburg between 22 and 24 July 2019. This collaboration between the Emmy Noether group and Prof. Jonathan Garb (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) focused on close readings of early modern texts that deal with notions of mystical death, ritual death, and adaptations of the four rabbinic executions of the court.
