Musar in Context
The collaborative workshop "Musar in Context” investigated the various modes of moral edification that manifest themselves in different religious traditions. It paid particular attention to the function of cultural intermediaries involved in these processes, and illustrated the value of studying Jewish forms of moral instruction in the context of its Christian and Muslim counterparts.
The workshop was organized together with Prof. Rebekka Voß of Goethe University Frankfurt. The collaboration inlcuded members of the Emmy Noether Group “Jewish Moralistic Writings of the Early Modern Period," the SPP project “Jewish-Christian Translation Cultures and the Pietist Mission” based at the Institute of Judaic Studies at Goethe University, the ERC project JEWTACT at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, and the Martin-Buber-Chair for Jewish Thought and Philosophy at Goethe University. The event was sponsored by the Johanna Quandt Young Academy at Goethe and in collaboration with the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften Bad Homburg. For the full programme, click here.
